AJS: Captain George Smith compiled the first comprehensive militaryūdictionary to be printed in English while he was Ispector of the RoyalūMilitary Academy at Woolwich. In 336 pages of text and 16 plates; withūnumerous folding tables and charts, he produced the most important 18thūcentury book on terminology that exists today.ūThis fine reprint is in an edition of 700 numbered copies, this being Noū477.
