Text, Part 2, continuation pp.395-748 (includes 27 appendices), 5 illus, 17 sketch maps. Map Case, 23 folding maps. AJS: Maintaining a secure Egypt and of course the Suez Canal was essential to for Britain and its Empire. Indeed, with the failure of the Gallipoli campaign it became even more so. The offensive war begun by Murray, C-in -C, 1916-17, and then Allenby, C-in-C, 1917-18, saw the eventual destruction of Turkish forces in 1918.
